Professionals will tell you scoring Par is a big deal and a challenge and it's always a good score. What makes them so good is their commitment to improving, whatever it takes.

After all par is what we measure our skill and ability to and making par will challenge you mentally and physically. Some pars are easily made while others you have to scratch and claw to get. The information in here is to give you an idea of what it takes and to assist you in your own challenge for par. Some is common sense, some may surprise you, some you are just not taught and some you must experience for yourself.

Remember, if you want to play better golf there must be some sort of commitment by you. You should have some athletic ability, strength and flexibility and an ability to keep your mind in the present moment. Who knows, a commitment to golf could lead to a change in your life.

  • Find a Teacher. Having someone look at your game will help you save strokes to par.

  • Know the rules of golf and play by them! They can help you save strokes to par and have more fun playing.

  • How you hold the club in your hands is the single most important physical aspect in golf.

  • 100% of the putts you leave short never go in!

  • Change your grips at the start of every season. Knowing your hands won't slip allows you to hold the club with lighter grip pressure and swing freely.

  • Not all golf clubs are the same, have your clubs fitted for you!

  • Not all golf balls are the same. Get fitted for a ball, it will help with your consistency and save you strokes to par.

  • Learn to practice properly.

  • Be very good when you're within 150 yards of the green.

  • Be even better when you're within 100 yards of the green.

  • Be even better putting and chipping.

  • Make more putts inside 10 feet.

  • Be even better inside 4 feet.

  • How and what you think on the golf course is the most important mental aspect in golf.

  • The ball changes it all.

  • Wear golf shoes and change the spikes often.
